How 3D Girls, Inc. is Addressing the Needs of Girls in Metro-Atlanta
The latest “State of Girls in Metro-Atlanta” report from The Atlanta Women’s Foundation has revealed some alarming facts about the state of girls in Metro-Atlanta. What we have learned is that Black girls and young women make up the largest share (40.2%) of the girl population. We also are aware that more girls than boys are living below the poverty line and that only 18% of female graduates in Georgia who were academically prepared to pursue a degree in STEM actually moved forward with doing so.
These facts are a reminder of the challenges that girls in Metro-Atlanta face. 3D Girls, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is committed to addressing these challenges and providing educational opportunities and support to girls in the community.
Highlights from our most recent data reveals:
- Our Girls Link Up has supported 264 3rd-8th grade girls. In this program, we prioritize social and emotional wellness and S.T.E.A.M. education programs that encourage girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math.
- Our Mom Circle and Emergency Assistance program has supported 101 families by meeting basic needs, providing access to self-care/mental wellness tools and/or utility assistance payments.
- We are leading the work of building collaborative communities for leaders of girl-serving organizations in the Metro-Atlanta.
- Overall we aim to innovatively execute mental health and wellness programs that support young women and girls’ emotional and social well-being.
3D Girls, Inc. is making a difference in the lives of girls in Metro-Atlanta. By providing these programs, the organization is helping young women and girls to reach their full potential and overcome the challenges they face.
