A Beautiful Partnership: 3D Girls, Inc. and Georgia Power
When 3D Girls, Inc. Founder & Executive Director, Raioni Madison was a classroom teacher in Atlanta Public Schools, she met Emily Matthews, Education Outreach Coordinator at Georgia Power. Emily came to Raioni’s classroom to do a “Learning Power” lesson on energy efficiency. The lesson was a hit with the students, and Raioni and Emily hit it off.
Over time, they lost touch. But a few months ago, they reconnected via social media. Raioni was excited to find out that Emily was still working at Georgia Power, and she was even more excited when Emily offered to partner with 3D Girls, Inc. to teach the girls in the program about energy efficiency this summer.
Since partnering with us, Emily has gone above and beyond her call by providing intentional lessons and activities for the girls at the camp. The girls easily proclaimed Ms. Emily as their “all-time favorite” guest over the summer. They had a great time creating solar bracelets, solar slime, designing Koozie cup holders, and even solar-powered tie-dye t-shirts over four weeks.
The girls learned so much about energy efficiency from Emily. They learned how to save energy at home, how to use renewable energy sources, and how to make a difference in the environment.
Emily’s coordination with 3D Girls, Inc. has been a beautiful thing. She has helped us to teach the girls about energy efficiency in a fun and engaging way. And she has inspired them to be the change-makers that they are meant to be.
We are so grateful to Emily and Georgia Power for their partnership. She is a true asset to our organization, and we are so lucky to have her in our corner.
